NaNoWriMo-Essentials
I'm participating in Nanowrimo for my sixth year. It starts November 1st. Yikes. Still got planning to do.

Anyways, except for updates on progress, I'm probably not going to be around much. I might share snippets of my story, but it's going to be largely unedited due to the nature of the challenge.

For those of you interested, here's some information about my story. First of all, it's original and I'm very excited about my idea.

Title: Balancing Act
Synopsis: Elliot's 2 boyfriends forget about him as they become engrossed in each other, so Elliot bows out, breaking his own heart in the process. Can two people that he's known since childhood, one a friend (Garrett) and one an enemy (Dane), show
him that a ménage à trois can work in the long run?

Main Characters
Elliot - protagonist, owns a gym, modeled his looks after Jared Padalecki (without extreme height), often plays martyr, good childhood, has a little sister who is a personal trainer at his gym
Garrett - main character, Elliot's best friend since childhood, personal trainer at Elliot's gym, modeled looks after Brad Pitt, sense of humor, promiscuous, secretly in love with Elliot, not that great of a childhood with absentee parents who disproved of his career path, spent a lot of time at Elliot's house as a child
Dane - main character, Elliot nemesis since middle school, author of paranormal stories, modeled looks after Orlando Bloom, slightly arrogant personality to keep people at a distance, secretly attracted to Elliot, rough childhood with everyone but his brother leaving him

So, my story is going to have a lot of angst, but there will be a happy ending. Let me know what you think.

I already told you I thought your story idea was neat. :) I like that you're doing a poly relationship book. I've never tried to write a story with a poly relationship yet, though I'd like to try someday.

I've still got planning to do for my NaNo story, which is complicated by the fact that I got a whole flood of plot bunnies for an entirely different story than the one I actually planned to write... My muse has terrible timing, so we shall see what I actually end up writing!

Thank you.

I'm so excited to finally write an idea that's been pinging around in my head for years. I've written stories with poly relationships before, but they were always fanfiction, so this will definitely be new for me. And harder. With fanfiction I know the characters very well. I need to make sure I know my original characters just as well, if not better.

I have the same problem. I have a lot of the story ideas in my head, both fanfiction and original. I've taken to writing them down in a notebook. I actually got about half of the notebook filled up with plot bunnies. No way will I ever write all of them. :(

Because of the Great Plot Bunny Flood, I was thinking "maybe I actually CAN write this thing that's been in my head for NaNo, except I HAVE a NaNo idea already!" So now I have two ideas competing in my head, and I'm not sure at all which one will win. I'm also not counting out the fact that something truly random will take over at the last second with no planning whatsoever.

I made a cover in MS Paint for the NaNo idea I'm not sure I'm doing anymore. Does that count as planning? lol
